A Little History

From 2011 to 2017 deaths from opioid overdose increased by almost 90% in Rhode Island. In 2016, the NaloxBox was created in response to the overdose epidemic. The NaloxBox mission is to improve the capacity of bystander rescuers to save the lives of victims of opioid overdose by increasing publicly accessible naloxone available in the newly developed NaloxBox. These boxes were placed throughout Rhode Island with much success and interest. Recently NaloxBox has been made available nationwide through an online store.


Position Overview

NaloxBox has partnered with the National VISTA program to hire individuals who are committed to utilizing their time and skills to address critical community needs. To qualify as an AmeriCorps VISTA, you must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident, be team-oriented, and be willing to take on a wide range of challenges.

The NaloxBox VISTA will develop an enhanced business model to scale up capacity, product inventory, and number of customer interactions by performing the following tasks and activities:

  1.  Review, assess and recommend improvements to NaloxBox’s business model that better aligns with the strategic, scale-up roadmap;

  2. Provide a focused strategy for a scale-up roadmap;

  3. Evaluate marketing strategies and determine if current strategies are reaching the proper consumers;

  4. Develop tools to assist customers in managing NaloxBoxes independently, specifically business and franchise partners;

  5. Develop a process to evaluate the effectiveness of the NaloxBox project and its scale-up activities;

  6. Collaborate with the other VISTA’s on our team.



  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; including multi-tasking;

  • Experience working with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams);

  • Hands-on experience with multiple sales techniques including cold calls;

  • Track record of achieving sales quotas;

  • Understanding of sales performance metrics and data tracking;

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills;

  • Practical knowledge of and experience with popular Social Media platforms;

  • Ability to deliver engaging presentations.



  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Marketing, Business Administration or relevant field
